Prevea Training Runs Begin Saturday, January 9th
Posted on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 2:23 pm in Training

Prevea is once again the Official Health Partner of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. As part of this partnership, Prevea sponsors a training run program for both marathoners and half marathoners.

This Saturday marks the start of the Saturday training runs, which are free to the public and offer:

  • Weekly event updates, inspirational quotes and stretching
  • Route reels that clip to your tights or shorts listing each turn on that week’s route
  • Water and Gatorade every 2 – 3 miles provided by marathon staff and charity partner volunteers
  • Free coffee and bagels at the finish

More importantly they give runners the opportunity to do their weekly long run with the support of the marathon and other runners.

Meeting Place and Time:

January 9 – March 13

8:00 a.m.

Bay Park Square Mall: Food Court

March 20 – May 8

7:00 a.m.

West De Pere High School

Routes will be announced at each training run. Full training schedules from Prevea are available on the Training page of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon website.

Do I need to be registered for the marathon before I can participate in the training sessions?

    Thank you,
    Kathy

    Hi Kathy,
Thank you for posting this question, it’s very common!
No, you do not need to be registered to participate in the training runs. They are open to the community.

Last year you had traing guide for half and full marathon. I don’t see one on here this year. Any chance of one? I live an hour away from Green Bay and am not able to make the training runs.
    On my own
    Brad

I would add that many of the trainees are preparing for other Spring distance races — Boston Marathon, Door County Half Marathon, Kenosha, Grandma’s, etc. It’s not a requirement that you register for the Cellcom Marathon events to participate in the Prevea Training Runs. We are open to all runners!

What is the name of that Irish Rock-type song that you guys sometimes play at the training runs?? We asked this morning and they said it is Sean’s favorite song. It gets me so pumped up and want to download it onto my iPod! Thanks :)

    Hi Kelly,
The name of the song is “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by Dropkick Murphys.
