Jan. 12th was the first Prevea Training Run for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon and Half Marathon and brought out well over 300 runners! The training runs are held each week and follow a training schedule put out by Prevea, and can be found at Join us each Sat. morning at Bay Park Square Mall food court through Feb. 23rd.

Some key aspects of the training runs are

      • Free of charge
      • Prevea Sports Medicine injury consult and screenings
      • Well supported with water/Gatorade stations every 2-3 miles
      • Pacesetters are periodically available at various paces
      • Donations for our charity partners that are staffing the water stations for us, are highly encouraged, donation bucket is at each training run

The training runs are not a race and please use caution as the roads on the training run routes are open. All ages and abilities are welcome with staffed water stations being available for at least a 12 minute mile pace. Meet some new running friends, be inspired and have fun running with this great training group.

The Prevea training run director, Mike LaMere, was there in person leading us with the pre-run warm up, as well as there in “flattened” form, a/k/a “Flat Mike”. Each week, a different runner is chosen to take “Flat Mike” on their training run, take pictures of the adventure, submit them to the marathon office and that runner gets a gift certificate to the restaurant of the week! Sign up each week at the training run and you may be selected to be the runner of the week!

See everyone at the next training run Sat. Jan. 19th at 8am at the Bay Park Square food court.
