26.2-MILE MARATHON CLOSED
Thursday, April 22, 2010

The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon office closed registration for the 26.2-mile marathon at 1 pm on April 22nd, three weeks prior to the event.  This officially closes open registration for all 2010 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon distance races.  Participants may still register for the marathon or half marathon through the event’s charity fundraising program, Run for a Reason.  This program enables fundraisers to create a web page that they may send to family, friends and co-workers soliciting donations for the marathon’s charity partners.  These include the Boys & Girls Club, the CP Center and Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin.  Upon raising $250 or more, fundraisers receive a free entry to any Cellcom Green Bay Marathon event.  According to race director Sean Ryan, “the sell out of this year’s events is attributable to positive word-of-mouth about the event within the running community combined with growing participation in distance running in general.”  Registration remains open for the Saturday, May 15th Cellcom Green Bay Mini-Marathon (2.62-miles) and the Wisconsin Public Service Kids’ Power Run (for children ages 10 & under).  Both of these events pass through Lambeau Field and cross the marathon finish line.

Important Race Day/Registration Updates
Tuesday, April 20, 2010

With registration for most of the distance events at or very near capacity, we wanted to give a quick update on some rule changes that you’ll want to be aware of prior to race day.

  • Right now the only way you can still get into the half marathon is via the Run For a Reason program. Click HERE for more information.
  • DO NOT sign up for the marathon with the intention of switching to the half marathon. If you attempt to do this, the interface won’t allow it since this feature is disabled for those who registered after April 12th.  Those who registered on or before April 12th can still switch events.
  • Finally, DO NOT sign up for the marathon and simply decide on race day to run the half marathon.  Those who do so will be DISQUALIFIED from the results regardless of their harrowing tales of injury and having a bad day.  In addition, those who switch events on race day will only be able to obtain a marathon medal (not a half marathon medal) and a marathon t-shirt (not a half marathon t-shirt) due to limited supplies.

We limit the registration on these races for the safety of all of our runners. Last year’s Sunday start line was very congested and was noted by participants in their post-race feedback. We listened to your input and have moved the Mini Marathon to Saturday and capped our events for the safety and enjoyment of all of our runners.  Thanks for your cooperations!
