Cellcom Green Bay Marathon Set to Kick-Off Training Season

by

The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is six months away, but training for the event is just around the corner. The annual kick-off party presented by Prevea Sports Medicine will get training season underway on Wednesday, January 6 at the Green Bay Distillery (835 Mike McCarthy Way, Green Bay). Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with the program starting at 6:00 p.m.

The evening is bid as a night of camaraderie and inspiration to get runners off on the right foot as they prepare for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon events in May. When you start working toward the goal of a half marathon or full marathon, it’s helpful to know that you’re not alone. Our participants all have their own reason to run, but they’re all working toward the same finish line. It’s motivating to come together and celebrate the start of the journey and we hope our runners leave feeling even more confident in their abilities and the training that lies ahead.

Part of that motivation will come from the keynote speaker, Colleen Kelly Alexander. Alexander is a lifelong athlete with an incredible story of survival. Defying diagnoses, dire predictions and death, Alexander stunned doctors by bucking the odds and coming back to run more than 50 races and complete 15 triathlons, including 4 half Ironman events since a traumatic biking accident. She teaches others how to aim higher, be stronger and use adversity as a catalyst to make the world a better, brighter place. Everyone has their own obstacles, and Colleen will demonstrate that regardless of situation or adversity, the power to overcome is universal. Her story is really incredible and provides really great perspective for all runners.

The kick-off will also feature an overview of the 2016 event and a presentation from Prevea Sports Medicine. The Prevea Sports Medicine team will be on-hand providing interactive RunCoach tutorials and training guides for marathon participants. Training team apparel will also be available for purchase.
